1) The Workshop on "Traditional Games, Toys & Dolls of the Tribes of Manipur" was organized by the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, New Delhi in collaboration with the Manipur Film Development Corporation Ltd. and the Tribals Research Institute, Manipur was held on the 7th and 8th December, 2007 at the TRI Auditorium, Imphal.

The Workshop was graced by Prof. Gangumei, Former Minister, Manipur as the Chief Guest, and Dr. H. Kamkhenthang Director, TRI as President, Dr. Kailash K. Mishra and Dr. Richa Negi, Research Officers of IGNCA New Delhi as Guests of Honour of the inaugural function.

Seven tribes took part in the Workshop. The participating tribes had a contingent of 5-15 members based on the games they were to display. Each tribe contingent had demonstrated 4-6 items of their respective tribal games. The participated tribes were-Liangmai, Thangal, Paite, Rongmei, Kharam, Hmar and Tarao. They had exhibited their skills and knowledge of dying traditional games with satisfaction.

The Workshop aimed at to revive and preserve the fast dying traditional games of tribes into oblivion. The tribes have rich cultural value in their games and sports and other traditional activities which are being forgotten in the wave of social changes.

The Workshop was rather an eye-opener. The participating members realized the need to preserve and revive this games in their own way.

2) A 3 Day Workshop cum Field Demonstration on Land Resource Management and Traditional Agricultural Practices & Its Profitability was organized on 6 – 8 January, 2010 at WADI Farm, Longmai, Tamenglong District. Shri A.B. Das, General Manager, NABARD and Dr. K.I. Meetei, Faculty, ICM talked on their assigned topics as resource persons. Mr Amu Kamei, Chief Functionary of the Farm led in field demonstration. 199 farmers attended the workshop.


3) 2 Day Workshop on Tribal Traditional Sports was conducted at Punanamai village, Senapati District on 13th & 14th January, 2010. Indigenous sports items were displayed by the youths.


4) Workshop on Women Entrepreneurs in Rural Development was conducted at TRI Conference hall on 7-8 October, 2009. 75 women entrepreneurs attended the workshop. Participants were taken to Ningthibi Collection Centre and showed them how an enterprise is started with humble beginning. Participants were greatly convinced and enlightened.


5) Another workshop on Management of Primary Education in Tribal Areas was conducted at Chandel District Hqtrs. On 29-30 January, 2010. 76 Primary school teachers attended the workshop. Resource persons from DIET and other organizations talked and presented papers on topics like Micro-teaching, Understanding Children's Behaviour, Assessment, Evaluation, Lesson & Training.
